Why does a high-refresh screen look like 60 Hz?

Run the eight-second estimate on the intended display. It measures browser cadence, not the panel specification.

Confirm the display mode

On Windows, inspect Settings → System → Display → Advanced display. On macOS, inspect System Settings → Displays and the exposed refresh choices. Options vary by hardware and system version.

Check the connection

A dock, adapter, cable, port or chosen resolution may limit modes. Consult monitor and computer specifications for your combination. Display mirroring can also constrain the mode.

Repeat under quiet conditions

Close heavy work, review power-saving settings and keep the tab visible. Variable refresh and dropped callbacks change estimates. A varying sample is a reason to repeat, not a fault verdict. Use motion inspection for visible trails; it does not measure response time.
