How to run this check

Start the microphone. Stay quiet for three seconds, then speak for three seconds. Compare the two RMS samples.

Understand the result

PASS describes a received signal or your recorded observation. WARNING calls for another check. USER REVIEW REQUIRED means a measurement alone cannot decide. An unavailable API or denied permission does not establish hardware failure.

What this cannot tell you

These are processed digital levels in dBFS, not calibrated room noise or an acoustic signal-to-noise ratio.

If something seems wrong

Compare mute, gain and noise suppression settings. Move closer and repeat both intervals.

Good to know

Is anything uploaded?

Raw diagnostic input and media are processed locally. Results remain in this page’s memory until you download a report or leave. Hosting and Google Analytics requests still leave your browser. Analytics receives only broad test-usage categories, never these diagnostic contents. See the privacy policy.

Does a pass guarantee my hardware is healthy?

No. It records behavior observed in this browser session. Intermittent faults, internal components and operating-system restrictions need further investigation. See our methodology.
