Allow camera and microphone access
Only allow access on a site you intend to use. CheckMyDevice requests it when you select Start.
Chrome and Edge
Open site controls beside the address, inspect Camera or Microphone and allow the capability you want to test. Use browser site settings if the control is not shown. Return and retry.
Firefox
Use the camera or microphone indicator near the address to review or remove an earlier decision. Start the test again to choose a device. System permissions may also apply.
Safari on macOS
Review the website’s Camera and Microphone settings in Safari, plus System Settings → Privacy & Security for Safari’s access. Retry after changes.
iPhone and iPad
Review Safari website settings and the system’s Safari camera or microphone controls. Placement varies by iOS version. Open this site directly in Safari if it was opened inside another app.
Windows
Inspect Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone or Camera, including desktop app access where shown. Organization policies can lock these controls.
Android
Inspect the browser app’s permissions in system settings, then its site permissions. Check system-wide camera or microphone privacy toggles if available.
Stop and revoke
Stop ends capture. Remove saved permission in browser site controls if desired. Saved permission is not the same as active recording. Retry microphone or retry camera.
